Template Letter – UPDATE

We are in an unprecedented situation as we observe the spread of coronavirus all over the world. As always, our first concern is to keep your children safe, healthy, and learning every day.  We are following the guidance of the [insert names of agencies, such as your local health department] in all decisions and protocols.

Staying healthy 

The most important thing that we can do as a community both in and out of school is to follow basic health guidance:

  • Wash hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
  • Avoid shaking hands or otherwise coming into direct contact with each other
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth
  • Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue, which is then disposed of
  • Stay home from school when sick and seek medical care

How to Speak with Children about COVID-19

Our children see and hear the news, often even more than we realize. Our students have noted their own concerns about this virus, and it is incredibly important that we speak calmly and honestly with them. Remind students that experts say the coronavirus does not pose a big risk to children.
